Hello Affiliates,
We’ve talked before about the importance of making your business known, and we often highlight your website as the central hub of your marketing efforts.
Your website is where you can showcase in-depth information, share blog articles, and tell your unique story.
However, after speaking with many of our top affiliates, it’s become clear that one of the most effective strategies for local business growth isn’t a website—it’s Google My Business (GMB).
Think of Google My Business as your company’s free digital storefront on the world’s largest search engine.
When a potential client searches for a service in their area, your GMB profile is what shows up in the local search results and on Google Maps, often before they even click a website link.
While not having a website isn’t ideal, not having a GMB page means you are absolutely leaving money on the table.
Best Practices for Your GMB Page
Your GMB profile is a powerful tool you can use to promote your translation services alongside your existing notary and apostille offerings.
Here are some suggestions for creating a great GMB page:
- Claim and Verify Your Profile: The first step is to claim your business profile. This is essential to being found and to having control over the information displayed.
- Complete Everything: A complete profile is a strong profile. Fill out all sections, including business hours, contact information, and a detailed description of your services.
- Promote Your Services: Use the “Services” section to list “Translation Services,” “USCIS Translations,” “Birth Certificate Translations,” etc. This helps you appear in more specific searches.
- Create Products: Do you offer apostilles? Fingerprinting? Translations? Add these services as products in GMB.
- Post Updates Regularly: Use the GMB “Posts” feature to share updates, offers, and tips. You can share a short video, a link to a blog post, or a quick note about your new translation service.
- Encourage Reviews: Positive reviews are gold. They build social proof and significantly impact your ranking in local search results. Make it a habit to ask happy clients for a review after a successful translation.
A great example of a solid GMB page is Idaho Mobile Notary Signing Agent, from our fellow affiliate, Jim Allen.
His Google profile applies the best practices we discussed earlier, which has helped him stand out in a crowded market.
Ultimately, your website and GMB page are symbiotic.
A strong GMB profile drives local traffic directly to your business, while a well-built website provides the in-depth information that converts those visitors into paying clients.
Focusing on both gives you a massive advantage.
